SDLABIO spe column function

H spe cartridge:
Removes alkali metal ions, transition metal ions, and carbonate ions from the sample matrix. Also used to reduce strong alkalinity in samples.

Na spe cartridge:
Removes transition metal ions and alkali metal ions from the sample.

Ag spe cartridge:
Removes Cl⁻, Br⁻, I⁻, AsO₄³⁻, CrO₄²⁻, CN⁻, MoO₄²⁻, PO₄³⁻, SeO₃²⁻, SeCN⁻, SO₃²⁻, S²⁻, SCN⁻, and WO₄²⁻ from aqueous samples.

Ag/H Mixed spe cartridge:
Removes the same ions as Ag Type, with enhanced deionization via combined hydrogen ion exchange.

Ag/Na Mixedspe cartridge:
Dual ion exchange function targeting halides and alkali metals.

Ba spe cartridge:
Removes sulfate ions from the sample.

Ba/H Mixedspe cartridge:
Removes sulfate ions with combined barium and hydrogen exchange function.

Ba/Na Mixedspe cartridge:
Targeted removal of sulfate and alkali metal ions.

RP spe cartridge:
Removes hydrophobic compounds, especially unsaturated and aromatic organics, effective across pH 0–14.

C18 spe cartridge:
Removes hydrophobic organics, effective within pH range 2–8.

Ag/Ba/H Mixed spe cartridge:
Removes Cl⁻, Br⁻, I⁻, AsO₄³⁻, CrO₄²⁻, CN⁻, MoO₄²⁻, PO₄³⁻, SeO₃²⁻, SeCN⁻, SO₃²⁻, S²⁻, SCN⁻, WO₄²⁻, and SO₄²⁻ from aqueous samples.

FAQ of spe extraction

What ions can be removed using Na⁺, H⁺, Ag⁺, and Ba²⁺ columns?
  • Na⁺ / H⁺ columns: remove cations, adjust sample ionic strength

  • Ag⁺ columns: remove halide ions (Cl⁻, Br⁻)

  • Ba²⁺ columns: used for removing sulfates and certain heavy metals

A C18 SPE cartridge is a type of solid phase extraction column packed with octadecylsilane (C18)-bonded silica particles. It is used to retain and isolate non-polar and moderately polar compounds from liquid samples. C18 cartridges are commonly used in environmental, pharmaceutical, and food analysis to remove interferences and concentrate analytes before further testing.

To perform solid phase extraction, load the sample onto the SPE column, allowing analytes to bind to the packing material. Then, wash the column to remove unwanted matrix components. Finally, elute the target analytes using an appropriate solvent. This process concentrates and purifies the analytes for more accurate analysis.

Liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) is a separation technique that transfers a compound from one liquid phase into another based on solubility differences. It is commonly used to isolate analytes from complex mixtures by exploiting their differing affinities between two immiscible liquids (usually water and an organic solvent).

In liquid-liquid extraction, the sample is mixed with a second immiscible liquid (e.g., water and hexane). The analytes of interest dissolve preferentially into one phase, while unwanted compounds remain in the other. After separation, the desired phase is collected for further processing or analysis.
