Frequently Asked Questions

Is it better to use a vented cap or a sealed cap for a culture bottle?

The vented cap contains a hydrophobic membrane that allows free gas exchange while maintaining a sterile state, and is suitable for standard CO₂ incubator environments. The sealed cap is suitable for special conditions such as transportation and low-oxygen culture to prevent contamination and liquid leakage. Most experiments recommend using a vented cap culture bottle with a culture bottle sealing film or sterile operating table.

Ensure the following measures are in place: Operate in a biosafety cabinet and wear nitrile gloves and sterile lab coats. All consumables are sterilely packaged and keep the packaging intact before use. Use sterile tips and sterile pipettes to transfer liquids. Do not place culture bottle caps on non-sterile surfaces. Clean the incubator regularly and use culture media containing antibiotics (such as penicillin-streptomycin).
