Frequently Asked Questions
What key parameters should be considered when selecting these sampling bags?
Important factors include material (FEP, PVDF, PVF, aluminum-foil composite, PE, etc.), bag capacity/size, valve or connector type, whether pre-sterilised, chemical/temperature resistance, whether one-time or reusable, and certification or clean-manufacturing traceability.
Are these sampling bags generally reusable?
In most cases they are recommended as single-use, especially for trace analysis, highly reactive gases or sensitive samples. Reuse may lead to residual adsorption, cross-contamination or degraded performance. If reuse is applied, comprehensive cleaning flush with inert gas and validation are required.
What are the hold-time (storage time) limitations for gas sampling bags?
The acceptable storage time varies widely by material and gas type. In general, inert gases may be stored for tens of hours, but for trace VOCs or reactive gases the recommendation is to analyze as soon as possible (e.g., within 24 hrs) to reduce sample composition changes.
What if the sample storage time exceeds recommended limits, leading to potential data bias?
You should note in the report that “sample storage exceeded its recommended time” and explain potential error or limitations; if feasible, consider re-sampling using a more stable material bag.
What should be noted for water-sample bags during collection and transport?
Ensure bag closure is fully sealed, avoid air entrapment, store at low temperature to slow sample changes; clearly label sample point, time, sampler etc. If water sample contains chlorine or disinfectant, some bags may be pre-loaded with neutralising agent.
