Feature Of Polyester Gas Sampling Bags

  • High-Quality Polyester Film Material: Made of high-quality polyester film with excellent chemical stability, odor-free characteristics, and low contamination risk. The double-sided thickness reaches 80μm, providing high mechanical strength and excellent resistance to tearing or damage during sampling and transportation.
  • Double Sealing Design for Leak Prevention: Equipped with double tie sealing and multi-layer sealing structures, the sampling bag provides reliable airtight performance and effectively prevents gas leakage during storage and transportation.
  • Multiple Specifications and Connector Options: Available in various capacities and connector configurations to meet different sampling requirements.
The 316 stainless steel connector provides excellent airtightness and corrosion resistance, while the PTFE connector offers superior chemical inertness and convenient operation for various gas sampling applications.
  • Glue-Free Inner Surface Design: No adhesive materials are used inside the sampling bag, reducing the risk of sample contamination caused by volatile substances from adhesives. This design minimizes experimental interference and helps ensure accurate and reliable analysis results.

FAQ of Polyester gas sampling bag

What are polyester gas sample collection bags used for?

Polyester gas collection bags are mainly used for collecting, storing, and transporting gas samples such as VOCs, industrial emissions, environmental air, and other gaseous compounds. They provide high gas impermeability and are widely applied in environmental monitoring, industrial testing, and laboratory research.

Polyester gas collecting bags have excellent barrier properties and stability, making them more suitable for storing volatile and reactive gases compared with standard polyethylene bags. However, for highly corrosive or active gases, PTFE or PVF gas sampling bags may be more appropriate. Researchers often use polyester bags together with other consumables like centrifuge tubes, cell culture flasks, or sample bottles to build a complete analytical workflow.

Generally, they are designed for single-use sampling to prevent contamination and ensure sample integrity. For certain non-reactive gases, bags may be reused after proper cleaning, but for critical applications such as trace VOC analysis, new sterile bags are strongly recommended.

The connector should be selected according to the sampling method and application requirements.

1. Gas Sampling Bag with 316 Stainless Steel Connector

Suitable for applications requiring high airtightness and sample stability.

  • PTFE liner with passivated stainless steel threaded cap provides excellent sealing performance.
  • Wide-edge sealing with high-strength tie structure ensures reliable sealing during folding and transportation.
  • Compatible with odor sampling barrels for odor and environmental sampling.

2. Gas Sampling Bag with PTFE Connector

Suitable for flexible connection and convenient sampling.

  • PTFE material offers low adsorption and excellent chemical resistance.
  • Compatible with vacuum samplers and gas flow controllers for easy operation.
  • Provides high compatibility; adapters may be required for some devices.

1. Polyester Gas Sampling Bags

  • Features: Made of PET film, cost-effective and widely used for routine air sampling.
  • Advantages:
    • Low cost, suitable for disposable applications.
    • Good for common atmospheric gases such as CO₂, O₂, N₂.
  • Limitations:
    • Higher permeability compared to fluoropolymer bags.
    • Limited storage time; not ideal for VOCs or sulfur compounds.
  • Applications: General environmental air monitoring, short-term collection.

2. Tedlar (PVF) Gas Sampling Bags

  • Features: Made of polyvinyl fluoride (PVF), often branded as Tedlar®, recommended by the U.S. EPA.
  • Advantages:
    • Excellent stability for VOCs, CO, CO₂, H₂S, and other common gases.
    • Chemically inert, with low background contamination.
    • Resistant to high temperatures (up to ~107°C).
  • Limitations:
    • Less resistant to highly corrosive gases like concentrated HCl or HF.
    • Higher cost than polyester bags.
  • Applications: EPA standard methods, VOC analysis, indoor air quality monitoring, industrial emissions testing.

3. Aluminum Foil Gas Sampling Bags

  • Features: Multi-layer composite with aluminum foil, providing complete gas barrier protection.
  • Advantages:
    • Excellent impermeability, ideal for light-sensitive and trace-level gases.
    • Prevents sample degradation due to light exposure.
  • Limitations:
    • Less flexible, prone to creasing.
    • Compatibility issues with some sampling instruments.
  • Applications: Trace analysis, sampling of light-sensitive VOCs or rare gases.

4. FEP Gas Sampling Bags

  • Features: Made of fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP), a high-performance fluoropolymer.
  • Advantages:
    • Exceptional chemical inertness, compatible with most reactive and corrosive gases.
    • Very low permeability, suitable for long-term storage.
    • Wide temperature range (-70°C to +200°C).
  • Limitations:
    • Relatively expensive.
    • Softer film with lower mechanical resistance.
  • Applications: High-purity gases, corrosive gases (SO₂, H₂S), trace-level environmental monitoring.

5. PVDF Gas Sampling Bags

  • Features: Made of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), a fluoropolymer with properties between PVF and FEP.
  • Advantages:
    • Stronger acid and alkali resistance compared to PVF/Tedlar®.
    • Low permeability and good mechanical strength.
    • Suitable for a wide range of VOCs.
  • Limitations:
    • Higher cost than Tedlar bags.
    • Less stable than FEP under extreme temperatures.
  • Applications: VOC monitoring, industrial exhaust sampling, corrosive gas analysis.

To ensure sample accuracy and stability, the following precautions should be followed:

  1. Avoid Contamination: Wear non-volatile gloves during sampling to prevent contamination of the bag surface or valve.
  2. Proper Sampling Operation: Use inert sampling tubes whenever possible and maintain a stable sampling flow rate to minimize adsorption and impurities.
  3. Avoid Overfilling: It is recommended to fill the sampling bag to approximately 80% of its capacity to prevent damage during transportation.
  4. Proper Storage and Transportation: Store at 4–25°C and avoid heat treatment. Protect collected samples from light and transport them promptly.
