SDLABIO Sediment Tubes
SDLABIO Sediment tubes are mainly used for centrifugal processing of urine samples to separate formed elements (such as cells, casts, crystals, etc.) in urine for microscopic examination. It is an important tool for clinical urine analysis. It is transparent, centrifugal resistant, and has good sealing properties. It is often used to diagnose urinary system diseases.

Feature of urine sediment tube
- Made of imported medical-grade polystyrene (PS) with excellent transparency and chemical stability. The smooth, burr-free surface ensures easy sample observation and safe handling.
- Designed with clear graduated markings that are resistant to wear and fading, enabling quick volume estimation and convenient data reading.
- Conical bottom design facilitates sediment collection and particle concentration, making it ideal for centrifugation and microscopic analysis.
- Available with multiple cap options:
- Solid Cap: Provides excellent sealing performance and supports repeated opening and closing for convenient sample storage and handling.
- Laminated Cap: Pierceable membrane design reduces aerosol generation and debris formation, making it suitable for automated analyzers and improving workflow efficiency.
- Aluminum Foil Cap: Features a pierceable aluminum membrane with a black insulating coating, suitable for automated analyzers and probe penetration.
- Screw-cap design provides secure sealing and prevents leakage even when the tube is inverted.
- Manufactured under high cleanliness standards, DNase-free, RNase-free, pyrogen-free, and low endotoxin, minimizing the risk of sample contamination.
- Suitable for urine centrifugation, sediment separation, and microscopic examination applications.
FAQ of sediment tubes
What's the difference between urine sediment tubes and regular centrifuge tubes?
Sediment sample collection tubes are designed specifically for urine sample analysis. They typically have a smaller capacity, are more transparent, and have appropriate graduations for easy volume reading. Regular centrifuge tubes are more versatile and suitable for separating a variety of samples.
Can urine sediment collection tubes be autoclaved?
Some urine sediment collecting tubes made of polypropylene (PP) can withstand autoclaving at 121°C, but it’s recommended to choose a sterile or non-sterile version based on the product instructions. The urine tubes used in sediment sample provided by SDLABIO are made of polystyrene (PS) and are disposable. After use, they should be disposed of according to medical waste procedures to avoid cross-contamination.
How to use sediment sample tubes?
In the laboratory urine sediment experiment, it is used with a urine sediment analyzer, the supernatant is removed, the sediment is left, and the centrifuge tube is gently shaken to fully mix the formed components of the urine sediment and observe the urine sediment to obtain experimental data.
Typical uses of sediment sampling tubes
Analysis of urine formed components (such as casts, crystal morphology).
Drug metabolite detection (needs to be combined with centrifugal enrichment technology).
Detection of urinary tract infection (UTI), nephritis, stones, etc.
Monitoring diabetic nephropathy, tumor cell shedding, etc.
