Feature Of Reusable Reagent Reservoir

  • Made of pure imported medical-grade polypropylene (PP), it’s chemically resistant.
  • Product dimensions comply with SBS/ANSI international standards and are suitable for automated workstations.
  • Effectively overcomes surface tension during automated pipetting, minimizing liquid buildup.
  • Manufactured in a Class 100,000 cleanroom, it’s DNA/RNAase-free, pyrogen-free, and low in heavy metals.
  • Withstands temperatures from -80°C to 121°C and is autoclavable at 121°C/15 psi for 15 minutes.
  • A variety of capacities are available, including single-channel and multi-channel reservoirs, and medium, high, and low-skirt reagent reservoirs. Multichannel pipette reservoir options include 8 channel reagent reservoir and 12 channel reagent reservoir.

FAQ Of autoclavable reagent reservoir

What's the difference between automated and disposable reservoir laboratory?

Automated reservoirs are primarily used in automated liquid handling platforms and are typically reusable and more robust. Disposable reservoirs (sample dispensers), on the other hand, are designed for manual or semi-automated sample dispensing and are typically single-use, preventing cross-contamination.

  • Single-channel reservoirs typically have a single liquid reservoir and are suitable for use with single-channel pipettes or automated equipment to dispense a single liquid or reagent. Their advantages include a simple structure, low cost, and easy cleaning or replacement, making them suitable for experiments with a limited number of liquids or small processing volumes.
  • The reagent reservoir for multichannel pipettes(reagent reservoir with divider) is designed with multiple independent small tanks within a single unit, each capable of holding different reagents or liquids. These tanks are typically used in conjunction with multichannel pipettes or automated sample handling systems. Their advantage is that they can process multiple liquids simultaneously, saving time on changing tanks and liquids, significantly improving the efficiency of high-throughput experiments.
  • When choosing, if the experiment only requires frequent dispensing of a single liquid, a single-channel reservoir is sufficient; if it is a high-throughput detection, molecular biology experiment or automated workstation application involving the simultaneous operation of multiple liquids, a multi-channel reservoir is more suitable.

Multichannel reagent reservoirs are designed for use with multichannel pipettes and automated liquid handling systems to enable efficient and accurate liquid transfer. Proper use helps improve pipetting consistency, reduce reagent waste, and minimize contamination.

Step 1: Select the Appropriate Reservoir

Choose a reservoir based on: Pipette format (8-channel or 12 well reagent reservoir); Required reagent volume; Chemical compatibility; Sterility requirements; Manual or automated workflow compatibility.

For PCR, cell culture, or molecular biology applications, sterile DNase/RNase-free reservoirs are recommended.

Step 2: Prepare the Reservoir and Workspace

Before use:

  • Wear gloves and maintain a clean working environment
  • Place the reservoir on a stable, level surface
  • If required, work inside a biosafety cabinet or clean bench
  • Prepare compatible pipette tips and pipettes

Ensure the reservoir is free from dust or contamination before adding reagents.

Step 3: Add Reagents

Carefully dispense the reagent into the reservoir channel or trough.

Important points:

  • Avoid overfilling
  • Minimize bubble formation
  • Add enough liquid depth for pipette aspiration
  • For multiple reagents, use separated channels to avoid cross contamination

When using expensive reagents, low dead-volume reservoirs are recommended to reduce liquid waste.

Step 4: Attach Pipette Tips

Install compatible sterile tips onto the multichannel pipette.

Check that:

  • All tips are firmly attached
  • Tips are aligned evenly
  • No tips are damaged or bent

Improper tip installation may cause uneven aspiration.

Step 5: Aspirate the Reagent

Position the pipette vertically above the reservoir.

During aspiration:

  • Immerse tips slightly below the liquid surface
  • Aspirate slowly and evenly
  • Avoid immersing tips too deeply
  • Prevent air aspiration and bubble generation

Consistent aspiration speed improves dispensing accuracy.

Step 6: Dispense the Reagent

Move the pipette to the target plate, tube, or vessel.

When dispensing:

  • Dispense at a steady speed
  • Keep the pipette vertical
  • Touch off gently if necessary
  • Avoid splashing or aerosol formation

For microplates, align channels carefully with wells before dispensing.

Step 7: Replace Tips or Reservoirs When Necessary

Step 8: Dispose of or Store Properly
