FAQ Of sampling bags with pressure strip

Can sterile sample bags be reused?

No. SDLABIO lab sample bags(with pressure strip) are single-use only, ensuring sterility and eliminating cross-contamination risks.

Sterile polyethylene bags are used for collecting samples under sterile conditions, while a specimen bag is typically used for transporting or storing biological samples, often featuring a separate document pouch and biohazard label. We also provide sterile sample bags(with wire closure) for customers to choose.

  • Inspect the plastic sample bags before use: Before opening, check that the bag is intact and that the sterile seal has not been compromised. Do not use the bag if the packaging is damaged or the sterility indicator (if any) shows exposure.
  • Tear open the top seal: Gently tear or cut open the top of the sterile bag along the pre-marked line. Avoid touching the inner surface of the bag or the opening area to maintain sterility.
  • Open the bag using the pressure strip: Hold the two ends of the pressure strip and gently pull them apart to open the bag. Make sure the opening is wide enough to allow easy sample insertion without spilling.
  • Insert the sample: Carefully place your sample (liquid, solid, or semi-solid) into the bag. Avoid contact between the sample and the outer surface of the bag. If collecting liquid samples, ensure the volume does not exceed two-thirds of the bag’s total capacity.
  • Seal the sterile plastic bags securely: Align the two sides of the pressure strip at the top of the bag and press them together firmly along the entire length of the strip. Ensure a tight, uniform seal to prevent leaks or contamination during handling or transport.
  • Label the sterile sampling bags: Write the sample identification information directly on the labeling area (if available) using a waterproof marker. Include sample type, date, collector’s name, and any other relevant details.
  • Transport or store the sample: After sealing, place the bag upright if it contains liquid. Store or transport the sample according to your laboratory’s standard operating procedures — typically in a specimen transport container or biohazard bag for additional protection.
